I've been designing websites since 2002 and also work as a researcher at the University of Maryland. One of my job duties has been maintenance and design of our laboratory's website. I completed my Foundation Certificate in Web Design in the spring of 2007 through sessions.edu and am now working towards my Master's Certificate and expect to finish in the spring of 2010.
I believe that your web site should be visually appealing, easy to navigate, interesting, up to date, and easy on your budget and I will work with you to achieve that goal.
Navigation: Each page should have buttons or text links that make the site easy to get around and connect all pages in a logical order. I think of the site as a flow chart. If it is designed properly, the viewer will find it easy to get the information they need.
Compatibility: There are currently a dozen or more browsers to choose from, each with its own set of features and bugs. I strive to make my designs compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and Mozilla Firefox browsers. I also try not to overload the page with specific "proprietary" code that make the page impossible to read for those using other browsers.
Graphics: It's easy to overload a site with large graphic elements that require long download times. I strive to keep my designs graphically neat while still making the site impactful and visually appealing.
Interactivity: Every site should have some sort of interactive element that can be as simple as an e-mail address or as complex as an order or search form. Viewers respond more favorably to sites which provide multiple avenues for feedback and interaction.
Affordable: Web design can be an expensive undertaking but with KKlinedesigns, you will never pay for more than you receive. I will work with you during your free consultation to help you keep costs down without sacrificing quality design. I charge by the site, not by the hour.
I am committed to making the process of getting your web site up and running an easy and enjoyable experience. Contact me today.
